American Tree Frog

We must have a dead animal somewhere near the house. The smell is horrible.

Seriously, I almost passed out when I opened the front door to let the puppy out this morning. It's that bad.

And then there are the buzzards circling around above our fields. There must be 8 or 9 of them.

Creepy.

They know.

My husband decided that he we needed to find the dead animal, that he we needed to know too. Honestly, I didn't feel like I needed to know, nor did I feel like I needed to find it. But, I welcomed a distraction from starting work for the day and went along.

So, we walked through the fields and along and through the woods. When the wind blew a bit we tried to tell which direction the stench was coming from. My hubbie was a boy scout and is much better at those types of things than I am. I did try to conjure up my vast experience as a Brownie to see if that might help us, but apparently making a 'Sit-Upon' wasn't going to help. (sorry Mom, but making Sit Upons, singing 'Dem Bones', and learning to braid using red licorice are about all I remember from my days as a Brownie)!

We thought maybe our dog would help too, but, in the end, he was just about as interested in finding the dead animal as I was. He is, afterall, much more interested in finding things that are alive ... you know, things he can chase.

Ultimately we found nothing.

But, when we got back to the house, we found this little tree frog stuck to the siding by the front door. So, here's the little tree frog to brighten your day ...  just because that's what tree frogs do.
